what a day

welp… can’t say i expected to ever have a blog and i’m not quite sure what’s worthy to write about… but i spose i can start with what consumes the majority of my life… children…

today i subbed in indy with the hardest kids i’ve had in a while. there’s just something about having one child-let alone an entire class- look at you and do the exact opposite of what you just told them to do. it’s flipp’n frustrating.

what kind of love does it take to recognize their rebellion and still search out a way to make their attitude help them in life? it is a teacher’s job to take all kids (good/bad/loud/silent/smart/slow) where they are- and bring them a notch higher… looking at each individual and saying- what can i do in this exact moment to help him/her be more successful? it’s the little things that make a difference… i could talk about that for hours… the little things that change a person’s life.. .teacher or not.

my brother was just telling us about a little boy he’s tutoring and what a sweet experience it is to see how much help he needs, how much he wants to learn, and that he just needs a little support from someone- support that my brother can provide. it’s those little things that make all the difference.

we all need a little support- especially when every once and a while we get a sub who might just pull her hair out and give up on us for the day…
everyone needs to know SOMEONE believes in them.
